More about the 1925 PubHouse

Why the 1925 PubHouse name?

Grandview Public Golf Course was completed in 1925, and our facility was completed in 1927! We have an older facility, rich in history, so we embrace it in our name!

Why is there a picture of Amelia Earhart in your dining room? (Pic taken at Grandview)

Prior to opening in August of 2020, we met with Madison County Historian Stephen Jackson to learn more about Grandview. We hit history gold for our facility! Here is a small portion of what we discovered.

There was a luncheon at the Grandview restaurant sponsored by the Anderson Business and Professional Women's Club celebrating a new airfield that was just built on the southwest side of town. The Guest list included names familiar in households not only in Madison County but undoubtedly familiar in homes world-wide. The list of seventy-four pilots was headed by Amelia Earhart, Weir Cook, Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, Anthony Fokker, and Major Reed Landis. Among the dignitaries was the future president of General Motors Corporation, and United States Secretary of Defense, Charles E.

Wilson.

* A Special Thank you to Stephen Jackson for the history lesson and the many pictures we have on display.

We had another delicious meal at 1925. The firecracker shrimp is one of our favorites that we always order, and today I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and added burgundy mushrooms and gruyere. Both were delicious as was Dinah’s carrot cake! We sat in the bar for the first...
